students for their academic and community activities. The specialized areas includes
academics, fine arts, black history leadership and spiritual consciousness. The facet assisted
with the paper screening of the student nominees as well as assisting at the award ceremony.
The Dallas Black Dance Theatre provides an opportunity to work with other

College, our San Jose Chapter and other organizations in the area.
Spring Youth Recital A spring Youth Concert seeks to provide a concert of those students
who have demonstrated ability, interest and talent in instrumental performing arts. This project

of Music, the Santa Clara County Black Educators Association and San Jose State University
Project Walking Fete celebrates walking. It is designed to demonstrate that walking is an
import form of physicals activity and to promote walking as a means to increase the interest of
youth and families in participating in physical activity. The project’s name was chosen to signal
a celebration of walking as exercise while recognizing its role in acquiring health promotion
habits that last a lifetime (The Links, Incorporated).
Project Magic was a Community Service Project activity at the 36th Western Area
Conference. Our chapter donated 10 backpacks, filled with school materials for students at
the Kermit R. Booker Elementary School. The backpacks were donated from Applied
Materials. The backpacks were overstuffed with pencils, paper and other knickknacks for
school.
