POLITICAL POWER ...  IMPACTING OUR COMMUNITY…

The Links Inc. has five facets for chapters to drive signature programming and efforts. One of the
facets is called
National Trends and Services (NTS).

The National Trends and Services, seeks to focus on “national trends” to plan “services” that will
make an impact on our communities, it is clear that racial and ethnic disparities are the underlying
factors that lead to those issues of concern identified and addressed by our programming.  More
specifically, our efforts will be driven by disparities;
political, educational, social, and
economical, on a local and national level,
which impacts and affects our community. We will
streamline and align our efforts to improve the lives of African American Women and Youth.

The
VISION of the National Trends and Services Facet is to eliminate disparities so as to reduce
barriers to services through leadership, education, and service.

Our
MISSION is to empower the communities in which we work by focusing on three key initiatives.

National Trends and Services (NTS), defines its key initiatives for the next two to four years to be:

Initiative One:

Voter Registration Drives – It is important and imperative that we ensure all voices and votes
count in every election. We will host a minimum of one voter registration, in a minimum of one
location throughout the Santa Clara County.

Initiative Two:
National and Local Issues Summit – A bi-annual summit, on key relevant, priority issues facing
our community.  The Summit will be facilitated by a well known, highly respected, community
leader, along with panelist from local community leaders, all sharing their perspectives, input and
ideas on resolutions. The goal is to help the community move forward and to outline the critical
steps needed to ensure progress and change. The Summit will force the organizations to build on
a collective, collaborative network to solve broad issues facing our community. The outcome of the
summit is a scorecard in which we will review at the next summit to determine progress and
momentum.

Initiative Three:
Umbrella Program – In keeping with the spirit of Linkdom, we will work and partner with the four
remaining facets to implement a stellar umbrella program. This program will impact our community
and align to the chapter’s goal,  in supporting and providing solid, stellar programming.
