Alice E. Foster Memorial Scholarship
Alice E. Foster was a member of the Links, Inc. She died of cancer and a memorial scholarship was dedicated in her honor and is awarded annually. The focus of the scholarship is on foster children who graduate from high school and attend either a four year public institution or a two year community college. The selection is based upon the work of Alice E. Foster and her community interest in this often neglected group of students and the need for funding.
Young people who are within the foster system are sometimes rendered invisible once they have completed high school. San Jose Links members serve as mentors to help provide guidance and funds for a group often overlooked or forgotten by the community once they graduate.
